Pair of Fancy Antique Victorian Cast Iron Picture Frames dating ca. 1900. Good Condition. Offered is a lovely pair of antique Victorian-era cast iron picture frames dating ca. 1900. Each fancy cast iron frame has a cheval-base and swivel/harp support, the top of each frame being decorated with a cast iron “ruffled ribbon”, as shown. Total height of frame and base is 11 inches. Frame, alone, measures approx. 8.5 by 5.75 inches incl. ribbon. Glass insert measures approx. 5 by 7 inches (frame will accept photograph or mirror glass of the same dimensions). The bases are decorated with fleur-de-lis, and are marked underneath, by the maker, “9466”. The beribboned frames are each marked on the back/top, by the maker, “9467”. The cast iron frames still retain their original gilded finish, glass and cardboard/boxboard backings. Condition is very good, having light surface wear, as shown. There is one old replacement screw in one of the harp supports, also as shown. From an estate near Albany, NY, these frames were presented as a wedding gift to a much-loved bride to be by her mother, and were recently passed down thru the bride's family. The photographs of bride and groom were removed and kept by the family.

Well I finally remembered to bring my measuring tape with me. This frame housed the worst ship painting ever but I noticed the Newcomb Macklin corners and was able to buy it right as no one else in the room caight on. It is an antique 16 x 20 Newcomb Macklin carved frame. There is some loss of the gilt and a small piece missing on the side (see scan) which could easily be filled especially if the buyer decides to regilt it. The gold now if quite shiney and you may prefer a matt gilt. A nice frame looking for a great painting especially Taos school.
