Polystyrene Polystyrene is a plastic material. This material allows for a wide variety of frame styles as well as being a light weight, cost effective frame solution. MDF MDF is a wood composite material which is used in many modern building applications. MDF provides durability and cost effectiveness as a picture frame material. Black Backing This backing material is roughly 1/8" thick, non-corrugated cardboard. This material provides a rigid and great looking backing for any picture frame. Cardboard Backing Corrugated cardboard backing is used in many of our larger poster frame sizes. We have found that this material provides rigidity and cost effectiveness in our poster frames. Glass Regular glass is approximately 2mm thick and is used in all of our frames that are smaller than 12x18. Styrene Styrene is cost effective, plastic, replacment for glass. Styrene is approximately 1mm thick and crystal clear. Styrene provides added durability in our larger frames. Acrylic Acrylic is similar to Plexiglass. This is a high quality plastic replacement for glass, and is widely used in custom framing . Acrylic is approximately 2.3mm thick and provides additional UV protection as well as durability. Matting We currently carry Crecent /Berkshire matboards. These are standard thickness (.054"), PH neutral. Matting is precision cut using high volume, robotic cutting machines. Then, the frame legs are assembled on one of our many v-nailing machines. This picture frame production process allows us to provide superb pricing based on volume production. Following this, each of our frames is assembled with glass, styrene or acrylic, black backing or cardboard backing, and either an easel (for table top use) or wall hanging hardware.
